Movie NEWS - 42 : the Jackie Robinson Story

The most important Baseball movie ever to be made.

The legend of Jackie Robinson isn't just one of the most compelling stories of the 20th century, it's one of the most important. At a time when the United States was viciously segregated, Robinson became the first ever black man to play in Major League Baseball, and not only did it change the sport forever it changed the entire country. So the question is, will writer/director Brian Helgeland's upcoming biopic live up the legend?

Warner Bros. has released a new theatrical trailer was the true-life drama 42, which delivers even more footage that what we previously saw in the first teaser from a few months ago and the featurette from earlier this week. Check out the new preview below or in HD over on Apple
TRAILER #1

Starring Chadwick Boseman (The Express) as Jackie Robinson, the new film chronicles the story of the man who broke baseball's color barrier in 1947 and changed the world forever, standing tall through endless abuse from fans and teammates alike. Through it all, however, Robinson stood up and took it, and went on to become one of the greatest players in history. Harrison Ford co-stars as Brooklyn Dodger manager Branch Rickey, while the rest of the supporting cast is made up of impressive players like Alan Tudyk, Christopher Meloni, John C. McGinley, Lucas Black, Ryan Merriman, Brad Beyer, Judy Tylor, Jon Bernthal, Nicole Beharie, and T.R. Knight. 42will be in theaters on April 13th and to see more from the movie, including the first trailer and stills, be sure to head over to our Blend Film Database.

I watched this show a lot growing up, Friday nights at 1 am.
Sure geeks woke up early on Saturday mornings to see
American Bandstand.
The cool stuff was on the night before though
on the Midnight Special !!

The Midnight Special is an American late-night musical variety series that aired on NBC during the 1970s and early 1980s, created and produced by Burt Sugarman. It premiered as a special on August 19, 1972, then began its run as a regular series on February 2, 1973; its last episode was on May 1, 1981. The ninety-minute program followed the Friday night edition of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
The show typically featured guest hosts, except for a period from July 1975 through March 1976 when singer Helen Reddy served as the regular host. Wolfman Jack served as the announcer and frequent guest host. The program's theme song, a traditional folk song called "Midnight Special", was performed by Johnny Rivers.
The Midnight Special was noted for featuring musical acts performing live, which was unusual since most television appearances during the era showed performers lip-synching to prerecorded music. The series also occasionally aired vintage footage of older acts (such as Bill Haley & His Comets). As the program neared the end of its run in the early 1980s, it began to frequently use lip-synched performances rather than live. The program also featured occasional comedic performances such as Richard Pryor and Andy Kaufman.

Monopoly Too - Another travesty of time !

In many families, Monopoly fights start long before the property is purchased. Inevitably, every player wants the same playing piece.
Well, it's time to stand up for your beloved old boot or Scottie dog or thimble, because Hasbro is aiming to get rid of it.
The company has announced plans to upgrade Monopoly, which will include replacing one of the game's iconic tokens with a fancy new figurine.
Even worse, Hasbro is making you decide which one will go. From now through Feb. 5, fans can vote to save their favorite token -- and which new one will take the place of the least popular piece.
“The tokens are one of the most iconic parts of the Monopoly game and we know that people are emotionally tied to their favorite one,” Eric Nyman, senior vice president and global brand leader for Hasbro told the Daily Mail. “When we decided to replace one of the tokens in the game, we knew we had to involve our fans in the process. We can’t wait to see which iconic piece will ‘go to jail’ and which new token the fans will choose to become part of one of the world’s most popular games.”
The choices for the replacement piece include a helicopter, a diamond ring, a robot, a cat and a guitar.
The new Monopoly will arrive on store shelves toward the middle or end of the year, which could bring about a Twinkie-like rush on the original classic game.
Perhaps anticipating a backlash from traditionalists, though, Hasbro has already announced plans to release a “Golden Token Edition” later this year that will include all of the classic pieces as well as the five new tokens.
While the changes are bound to be harrowing for old-school players, it’s not the first time Hasbro has monkeyed with the game pieces. Three of the game's original tokens -- the purse, lantern and rocking horse -- were replaced in the 1950s by the dog, man on horseback, and wheelbarrow. Other tokens have appeared in the many editions of the game, including a locomotive and a sack of money.
Check out the possible replacements below, and cast your vote over on the Monopoly Facebook page.

Convention Madness - CES 2013 : the "Booth Babe" Debate Continues

I hate to say this, but the woman commenting on the last portion of this video is not very smart. She says "Let's have some topless men at these booths."

First, the Booth Babes are not topless.
Secondly, why would you market toward the only 14% of the workplace ?
Third, yes that is Gary Shapiro at the :20 mark.
Hi Gary .. How is Vegas this year ? LOL !!

Some visitors to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas are angry that the so-called 'booth babes' are back despite much criticism at last year's event.
A year after the BBC first highlighted the issue scantily clad women are still a staple of electronics and technology shows around the world, but some females in the industry feel the tactic has been taken too far.
While models have been banned from technology and gaming expos in China, the US is seeing a steady growth in their use in marketing. Critics say their presence is degrading to women and contributes to the fact that so few women want to take up careers in engineering.

Baseball NEWS - No One Elected to HOF in 2013

Baseball Writers have decided to be punk bitches this year, and not vote ANY player into the Hall of Fame.

Here is a group of people who have never played this game professionally, yet they pass judgement on ALL player inductions. This year they have decided that NO ONE deserves to get into the Hall of Fame.

There are plenty of names on this list below that have never been accused of steroid use.

I call BULLSHIT !!!

I agree that admitted steroid users, or the actual players that have been caught do not belong in the HOF. These punk a$$ bitches have decided to lump a whole "generation" of players as users.

I agree that fringe players do not belong in the HOF, and do not think that players should be voted in just to have a new inductee.
