After the low-energy trifle that was The Tourist, it's nice to be reminded that Johnny Depp is totally fun to watch, so long as the trifle is high-energy. The fourth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise arrives looking at least as over-the-top as the ones that came before it, and, even better, without the calming/deadening influence of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. This time around, Captain Jack Sparrow is on the hunt for the fountain of youth and has to contend with scary mermaids, Ian McShane's Blackbeard, and, inevitably, zombies on the way. Penélope Cruz and her adorable accent play the fiery Spanish lady love interest, and she and Depp make for the cutest pair of Bobbsey Twins in pirate drag you ever did see.
