Dunny Dementia - 1st Annual DTA DUNNY Show ! : Jan 10th - Feb 6th by Clutter & Kidrobot

What began as a simple idea to allow artists to work live on stage at the 2014 New York Comic Con, has grown into something so much greater. On January 10th, The Clutter Gallery will open its doors to an incredible month long exhibit of customized 20” and 8” Dunnys, titled The DTA Dunny Show with pieces crafted by some of the industry's most established and emerging artists. “As long time supporters of Clutter and the Designer Toy Awards, we immediately threw our support behind Clutter’s desire to have live Dunny customizing during this year’s NYCC,” said Steven Elmes, Kidrobot’s Director of Marketing. “When we saw the work coming out of that show, it was evident to all of us that we needed to make this a bigger event."

"We're thrilled with the way things have developed," said Miranda O'Brien, co-founder and editor-in-chief of Clutter Magazine. "Clutter and the Designer Toy Awards have always been about garnering recognition for the art toy community as well as expanding the audience our scene reaches. We see this exhibition partnership as a natural evolution of those things, as something that does nothing but help everyone making indie toys.”

The list of participating artists includes: 64 Colors, Artmymind, Bwana Spoons, Carson Catlin, Davemarkart, David Finch, DeeTen, Dolly Oblong, Frank Kozik, Gabriel Carpio, Grimsheep, J*RYU, Jenn & Tony Bot, Jesse Hernandez, Jon-Paul Kaiser, Josh Mayhem, Lou Pimentel, Luke Chueh, Mike Fudge, Ryan the Wheelbarrow, Scarecrowoven, So Youn Lee, and WuzOne. Artists will be using the hashtag #DTADunnyShow as they post images of their works-in-progress leading up the show.

There will be an opening reception on January 10th, from 6-9PM, at The Clutter Gallery (163 Main St., Beacon, NY) and the exhibit will be on display until February 6th. The Clutter Gallery will have all pieces available for sale in their physical location and on their website. The Clutter Gallery sends out a newsletter to all users who are registered to the Gallery Preview List, which allows the recipients to view and purchase works before the exhibition opening. Dunny Dementia - Hellboy Mini-Qee Figures

It's not easy to get news about what Toy2r is up to these days since their US office has closed.    Utilizing their Mini Qee platform they have announced plans to release these three Hellboy figures this summer.  They worked closely with Dark Horse and Mike Mignola on the character designs and word is some of them will be rarer than others (my guess would be the glow in the dark to be the rarest).  The best part is they'll only be $19.99 each when released, so you don't have to feel too guilty about not saving for your retirement.

At this year’s International Toy Fair, Dark Horse revealed what is sure to be one of the year’s most-talked-about toy releases! Hong Kong’s innovative designer-toy company Toy2R will produce a new range of 5” vinyl figures in their popular “Mini-Qee” format, putting their unique design spin on Mike Mignola’s popular Hellboy character.

Mike Mignola’s Hellboy has emerged as one of the classic comic book characters of the modern day, spawning a successful series of graphic novels, motion pictures, animation, interactive games, and toy lines. Excitement around this character is at an all-time high, as Mignola takes him back to whence he came in the smash-hit series Hellboy in Hell, currently in its third issue.

Raymond Choy’s Toy2R is recognized as being among the first companies to explore the potential of the designer/art toy movement since their arrival in 1995. Choy managed to turn his passion for collectible toys into an internationally known company, which today continues to push the boundaries of product design, art, and graphics.

“We couldn’t be more excited to be involved in this program,” Dark Horse Product Development head David Scroggy said. “We have worked with Toy2R for many years, and to see their fun take on Hellboy is a thrill. These vinyl figures will be in very tight edition quantities, so we expect a quick sellout of most of the variants.”

Toy2R’s trademark Qee format gives Hellboy a new look, altering his appearance in several ways, all of which were personally approved by Mignola. The results have already gotten comics fans and toy collectors alike talking, after they were revealed on Tomopop last week. All three were  on display at the Dark Horse exhibit booth at this year’s Toy Fair at the Jacob Javits Center.

Dark Horse Comics is the exclusive North American distributor of the Hellboy Mini-Qee line and will handle sales to the specialty market in Europe and other territories. Toy2R will be the exclusive sales entity to Asian territories. Slated for release in July 2013, the figures will be produced in various limited edition sizes, all with a retail price of $19.99.

Dunny Dementia - Post Apocalypse 3″ Series by Huck Gee

After the fallout clears, vinyl still stands. SF artist Huck Gee resurrects Dunny with 13 post-apocalyptic designs featuring zombie hunting ninjas, cyborg geishas, evolved apes, mecha troopers, feral foxes, radiated rhinos, and super fly copter kids. Hyper detailed sculpts and crazy complex accessories push the boundaries of 3-inch vinyl to create characters that are built to survive – even when nothing else does.
Post Apocalypse Dunny Series is blind packed and limited edition. Waking up in a wasteland February 28, each figure retails for $9.95 US (£7.90 UK, €9.20 EU) and available at Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com, and select retailers worldwide.

Custom Crazed - Sketracha Dunny by Sket One

Earlier this week, we teased you guys with word that Sket-One would be re-visiting condiments with his latest Dunny release after we spied some work in progress shots. This time, paying homage to the much loved Sriracha chilli sauce. We are now happy to share with you these exclusive photographs Sket sent us of the finished piece,"Sketracha". HOT!

It's all in the details and Sket has been working hard on retaining the authentic look of the iconic rooster sauce, this includes using actual Sriracha caps. A set of bright green bamboo chopsticks and a bamboo place matt complete the piece. We love it. If you want to get your hands on Sketracha, get ready because this will be available for one day only. It all happens November 30, 12AM EST, coast to coast until 11:59 PM PST. All figures come signed and numbered and cost $450.

Dunny Dementia - the Apocalypse Series is Coming !!

Dunny celebrates the end of the world with a group of artists so badass, you’ll wish every year prophesized mass destruction. Angels of death, soapbox protestors, Mayan feathered serpents, toxic meltdowns – so many versions of Doomsday, how do you choose just one way to go?
The Apocalypse Dunny Series features 15 Judgment Day designs by 12 masters of their craft – from fine artists and illustrators, customizers and toy titans – this series is cataclysmic. The collection includes designs by Jon Paul Kaiser, Mishka, Jermaine Rogers, Jesse Hernandez, Sam Fout, Joe Ledbetter, Ron English, Huck Gee, Patricio Oliver, Chris Ryniak, Hydro74, and Kronk.
An ode to the era when people still walked on Earth, you should line them up with the rations under your garage, because even canned sardines need friends. The end begins November 8 at Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com, and select retailers. Each doomy Dunny retails for $9.95
